The Etablissement Public du Parc et de la Grande Halle de la Villette (EPPGHV) wanted to build a new operations building on the site of the current Cité Jardin, to provide its teams with a more efficient working tool and to give the park and to return parkland to the public, in this environmentally-friendly urban area.

This new workplace has been designed as a ‘base camp’ for 155 workstations on a floor area of 3,000 m².

The project is in keeping with the Parc de la Villette and the follies of Bernard Tschumi’s follies. It has been designed around a generic structure in which uses and events create the identity of the site.  The design features two interlocking structures.

One in concrete for its and inertia, the other in wood for its lightness and low environmental impact. These structures can span 12 metres, freeing up interior interior spaces. In constant evolution, this is a building with variable geometry that can be adapted to suit the projects it hosts.

Bathed in an undergrowth atmosphere created by the play of natural light through the structure, the Pavillon Jardins is the new base camp for the teams of the Etablissement Public du Parc et de la Grande Halle de la Villette.

It is arranged on two levels around a central atrium where a staircase-gradin where project presentations, conferences and informal meetings can be organised.Tailor-made micro-architectures punctuate the spaces, serving as meeting bubbles meeting bubbles, copy rooms and coffee areas.

The workspaces are flexible and enjoy panoramic views over the Park’s lush vegetation. Park’s abundant vegetation. Designed in consultation with users, they can be freely organised with structuring furniture designed by the agency and some produced by some of them by the teams at La Villette.
