Situated next to Uppsala central station (4th largest city in Sweden), it displays a fantastic example of wooden construction to anyone passing by. The lit-up wooden beams doesn’t hide the origins of the office building. The news spread fast about the project and Vasakronan rented out all office space faster than in any non-wooden building they have in their portfolio.
What is worth noting is that Vasakronan decided that they can’t wait for a change in laws, they needed to be ambassadors for a new kind of office building in Sweden that takes sustainability to its core. Even going to extreme lengths and questioning standard framing for curtain window walls and replacing aluminum with wood.
Building sustainably in wood also meant that they had to look into all other aspects of the building. The property has green roofs, battery storage, advanced control solutions and geo-energy storage for both heating and cooling. There are solar cells, both on the roof and façade.
